Is it truly possible to say that a month flew by but then when you look back, it seems like the beginning of the month was a long time ago? May was one of those months. I went into the month with events on the calendar every weekend except Memorial Day. Between milestone birthday celebrations, Mother’s Day, family time and college homecomings, there was so much packed into the month that it’s no wonder it felt like a lifetime ago.
We kicked off the month with our Poppi’s 75th birthday celebration and a reminder that each and every day and year are truly such a gift. I try to remind myself of this often but as I listened to him reflect on getting older, I stopped and remembered how important it is to take it all in.
Mother’s Day was one filled with family time and reunions. We were truly blessed to celebrate with both our moms plus some of the most special moms in the world to us. Church followed by lunch and a relaxing dinner at home was the perfect combination for this Mama heart.
With the homecoming of my niece from college, we enjoyed a girl’s night to catch up and celebrate a belated Mother’s Day with the rest of our crew that couldn’t join on the actual day. Life gets busy and time slips away so fast before you know it. Making these plans and reconnecting with each other are so important. They are truly the times that fuel my soul and remind me of God’s purpose and the people he has placed in my life.
With Memorial Day approaching, we purposely didn’t make any plans as it was the weekend before my daughter’s final exams. Knowing she would be extra stressed and needing the study time, we enjoyed a low key weekend. To be honest, I always go into these weekends a little anxious as I like to be busy but, in the end, there were some special little moments that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Our Summer fun will start soon enough once school is officially out.
With June finally here, it means more plans, my own milestone birthday and hopefully more sunshine. I know it is going to be another busy month but filled with more memories to take into the rest of 2023. Happy Summer friends!
