As busy moms, wives, or working professionals, who isn’t in need of a girls’ night out every once in awhile. As Mother’s Day quickly approaches, there is no better excuse to get together and enjoy a fun, carefree night.
I recently attended my second “Favorite Things” party so I thought I would share the concept since it is such a great idea for a night with friends, a chance to meet some new women or as a fundraiser.
My son’s high school baseball team puts on an annual auction event where there are tons of prizes to bid on. One of them is a “My Favorite Things” party hosted by some of the baseball moms with older boys. The cost of the party is a fixed cost so everyone is able to participate which is so nice and of course, the money raised all goes back to the boys.
The idea is that you are to select one or two of your favorite things at a total price point of less than $10 and provide one for each guest. Ideally, it is best to keep the total attendees at 10-15 to keep costs low and make the experience a little more intimate.
Now comes the fun part, finding your favorite thing to share that’s under $10. One of the reasons I started following other bloggers is I loved finding women that I trust with similar styles and taste and trying out the products they recommend. The “Favorite Things” party is the same concept but in person. You would be surprised and amazed at the variety of products you will walk away with but also the number of items you will find yourself loving and buying again. From Starbucks cups and gift cards to beauty products like dry shampoo, self-tanners and moisturizers to champagne, jewelry and flowers. It’s like Christmas all over again!
The sweet hostesses made bags for everyone to carry their loot home in and provided a hostess gift related to the theme of the party. This year, each mom was given a necklace made from a bottle cap with their son’s number on it. Such a thoughtful gift that also creates a connection between all the moms who attended.
Overall, whether you decide to throw a “Favorite Things” party as a fundraiser, get to know some of your neighbors a little better or just have an excuse to get together with your best girlfriends, I highly recommend this theme. Taking care of ourselves means taking the time to connect with other women and if you can walk away with some personal care items that become your new favorite things in the process, that is a win-win in my book.
