July-Bring on the Sunshine

It’s officially the first full month of Summer and I couldn’t be happier. Here in California, July usually marks the end of our May Gray, June Gloom days, which means beautiful days at the beach, pool and lake. July is another busy month for us with family birthdays, holidays and special events. Plus, we have a short little getaway planned to one of our favorite local cities.

July 4th-While Independence Day is usually a great day to hang out with family, this year is even more cause for celebration as our country comes out of this pandemic. My mother-in-law usually heats up the pool, fires up the BBQ and let us light fireworks in front of her house. It is always a nice, relaxing day filled with lots of good food, company and most importantly, the celebration of our freedom.

Trip to San Diego-While we finally have a Hawaii trip booked later this year, we didn’t originally make any plans for the summer with the uncertainty around travel just a few months ago. So, when my brother asked us to join them for a couple of days in one of our favorite local cities, we jumped at the chance. It’s a crazy, busy time at work for my husband and I but we desperately need a small getaway to recharge and unwind. With plans to attend a baseball game and enjoy the pool at one of our favorite hotels, I know it will be the perfect way to escape, even for a short time.

Brunch at The Farmhouse at Rogers Gardens-This local spot has been on my mom’s bucket list for awhile and reservations are hard to come by. We secured a reservation for a girls’ day brunch a couple of months ago and can’t wait to enjoy the setting of this beautiful restaurant and nursery.

Family Birthdays-July is one of the busiest birthday months in our family starting with my youngest brother on the 1st and continuing with my sister-in-law, my cousin, niece and nephew, and then my brother-in-law, stepmom and the kids’ cousin at the end of the month. Birthdays are always a great excuse to connect with family and the people we love so we can’t wait to gather together and make some more memories.

I can honestly say that June went by at a decent pace for me, because I really tried to embrace each day and not try to look too far ahead and risk the month flying by. I truly hope I can do the same thing in July and soak up every day during my favorite time of the year. Hope everyone has plans to enjoy the most of summer this year!
